The breakfast, at the San Diego Convention Center, drew about 1,800 people, a mix of community leaders, politicians and residents. It was one of several local events yesterday, a national holiday to honor the slain civil rights leader. The breakfast also featured several performers, including Gary Thomas Jr., who recited a mix of King's speeches.
